Hi, I painted this on location at Yosemite next to the Chapel on Oct 17,2012. It was the only Sugar Maple in the park, and there were evergreen trees every where else.
Instructions for Fall watercolor painting-
Colors-
Bright Yellow,Cad Orange Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue,Phthalo Blue or Antwerp Blue,Cerulean Blue, Permanent Rose, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre or New Gamboge, .Cadium Orange.

Tilt the paper vertical and drip water down from the top leaving streaks of dry paper as you do this. Make it quite wet.
Front Grasses
Burnt Sienna, Cadium Orange, and Yellow Ochre This is applied with horizontal brush marks hit and miss. Later when it is abit dryer go in with a thirsty brush and pull out color below the base of the front tree.
Leaves
Using thick paint apply bright yellow, Cadium Orange, into the foliage area o the right side. Then put in perm rose next to the yellow.
Top of Trees
Cadium Orange mixed with perm rose for a deeper orange. Leave spaces for sunlight to peek through.
Middle Leaves
Go in with a mixture of Cadium Orange and Perm Rose, to darken the center foliage.
Evergreen Leaves
Mix Phthalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, and Cobalt Blue. Apply heavy pigment to left top down 1/3 of paper and alittle dab on right top. After 3 brush strokes you will want to vary the tone by adding more cobalt blue.
Purple Background Trees
Cobalt Blue mixed with Permanent Rose.
Tree Trunks and Branches
Cobalt Blue mixed with Permanent  Rose with a dirty brush.
Sunlight
Cobalt Blue and thin wash of Cereulean Blue between front trees.
Painting is completed, sign your masterpiece.

Hello,
My husband taught this watercolor class today at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center. He did a terrific job and I was excited about painting the subject he selected.
I have made this painting into 5x7 cards to put in the gallery!

Hi Friends,
I just finished Quiet Waters this morning. This painting took longer because it had to be dried each between the different horizontal views.
I am happy with the end results although I think the front brush could have been done better.
